Interim Solutions While
Fiber is Coming

While fiber infrastructure takes shape over the next few years, the Navajo Nation Broadband Office (NNBO) is ensuring a continued roll-out of access with interim broadband solutions.
Using the technology of satellite and fixed wireless, 58 unconnected Chapters will soon be online and/or have a faster connection and will be joining the 52 already-connected Chapters.
These fast-tracked solutions will support everything from telehealth and education to Chapter governance—so no chapter community is left behind while long-term infrastructure is built.

Big changes are on the horizon for broadband on Navajo land.
NNBO (Navajo Broadband Office), is laying the groundwork for and rolling out Phase I of a robust telecommunications strategy, including new mobile 5G towers and expanded fiber coverage.
Backed by reallocated ARPA funds, this infrastructure will connect communities faster and farther than ever before.
The journey to connection doesn’t stop here—future phases will depend on continued investment and support from all stakeholders, including you and your local delegate!

From Arizona to New Mexico to Utah, NNBO, Navajo Nation Broadband Office, is going all-in on BEAD funding opportunities.
The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program is a federal initiative that aims to address the digital divide and bring broadband to over 20,000 unserved homes and institutions.
Their Arizona team even challenged state data and won—reclaiming over 8,000 addresses for eligibility.
These hybrid fiber and wireless applications reflect a strategic, forward-thinking approach to deliver scalable, high-impact broadband solutions.

The Navajo Nation Broadband Office, NNBO, is transforming how community institutions like schools and libraries get online.
With strategic use of the E-Rate program, a Federally Funded program that includes funding for internet to libraries, 52 Chapter libraries have already been connected to fiber—with 58 more coming online soon.
By negotiating smarter and partnering closely with service providers, NNBO has slashed deployment costs from $49 million to $23 million.
That’s $27 million in savings!
Showing that tribal-led broadband development is both effective and efficient.
